Sunday School: Bekay

Premier is trying his hardest to push this dude, Bekay, into fame. I don’t think he has to try that hard. This dude is insane. He’s worked with respected artists like Masta Ace, DJ Revolution, R.A. The Rugged Man, Heltah Skeltah, Wordsworth, Saigon and even Inspectah Deck. Also respected producers gave him credit, beatmakers like Alchemist, DJ Babu, J.R. Rotem and Marco Polo. Most of the tracks he has are produced by himself. Per Premier, “I promise you, all his beats sounds like... Read More →

Black Thought – “The Professional”

Black Thought. One of the most under rated MC’s in the game, and definitely one of MY top 5 of all time. This track is NOT off of the rumored solo album of his. This was recorded late 2003 and released early 2004 on a mixtape that never surfaced any further than just to a few friends of theirs. Produced by Philadelphias own ‘Kaos’. This track will show you how great his wordplay, flow and delivery actually is. Someone you should actually consider dedicating some time to. Three... Read More →

Madlib & Guilty Simpson – “The Paper”

Madlib, as always, is in the lab. He’s working on the Strong Arm Steady album, the Guilty Simpson album, had a few things in the Metal Fingerz album, which I’m deeply in love with, and ALSO working on his new drop “The Madlib Medicine Show”.The Medicine Show will be a once-a-month, twelve-CD, six-LP series. Go ahead. I’ll give you a second to go back and re-read that. Dude, is absolutely nuts! The new Madlib album is an array of new hip-hop productions, remixes, beat... Read More →

Slum Village, back in the studio.

That’s right ladies and gents. Although they’ve recently lost two amazing parts of their band, they are back in the studio and this time, with some interesting additions. Not much is known about their new album, Villa Manifesto, except that it is going to be launched sometime in 2010 under Barack Records. One more thing that has leaked is that the album WILL have Baatin (RIP) and the likes of all four together, including J Dilla. Now, for the interesting part. They will be releasing... Read More →

Them Crooked VulturesIf you’ve been living under a rock for while now, you probably haven’t heard of Them Crooked Vultures. So who and what is Them Crooked Vultures. Well besides the raunchy name of a band, it’s not just any band, it’s a SUPER BAND. The members of Them Crooked Vultures are Josh Hommes (Queens Of The Stone Age, Kyuss, Eagles Of Death Metal) on vocals and guitar, Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters/Nirvana) on drums, and John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin) on bass. I should... Read More →

This Is Rebel

This Is Rebel Being in a band myself in my local area, you tend to run into a lot of bands that you get booked with these days. For many years before even joining a serious band I had been to a considerable amount of shows ranging from the days Nonpoint where merely just another band from Ft. Lauderdale. While years pass by you’ll see the rise and fall of many of your favorite bands out there. Some will have a totally changed sound that’s controlled by major record labels or some of them... Read More →

Sacrifice, honor and duty…Happy Veterans’ Day

Today is for the brave men and women who have fought for the red, white and blue and for me and for you. In my lifetime I have had the honor of knowing many incredible people. Famous, average, intelligent, gregarious, affable and humorous types that have filled my life with joy and laughter. Loving, warm and caring folks who have shared with me their homes and hearts and made me feel like I belonged. Near and far, my acquaintances with these people have, for the most part, cushioned my very existence... Read More →

FATWARENESS MONTH, Fatcon #12: D’Oh!

The Tracey Ullman show is pretty great. Trust. Four score and about a million years ago in T.V. time (That means in 1987. lol), there was a little show on the air called the Tracey Ullman Show It was a sketch comedy show featuring, yeah, you guessed it, a very-talented comedienne named Tracey Ullman. It also featured cast members Julie Kavner and Dan Castellaneta in various bits that were pretty freakin’ hilarious if you ask me. I am going to go as far as to say that the Tracey Ullman show... Read More →

eMC can definitely rock the crowd

Masta Ace’s “Disposable Arts“, what an amazing album, huh?. Had special features like Stricklin, Young Zee, Jean Grae, Jane Doe, Rah Digga, Wordsworth, Punchline and Apocalypse. Early 2001, Masta Ace went ahead and started touring this album around the states. He brought along a few of the performers that helped with the album. Little did they know that a few years later they would be forming this super group named eMC. Masta Ace, Punchline, Wordsworth and Stricklin make up this... Read More →

9th Wonder and Murs decided to release a movie pre-album release. If you don’t know anything about them, I suggest you read up a bit and “learn” these guys. This will be their 4th album together, which they’ve named ‘Fornever’, and each one just keeps getting better. This video, named “Part 1, just leaves me to believe that more is yet to come. I could not stop laughing at how original these two heavy hitting dudes are. Who’d a thunk it, huh? Well... Read More →
