LeBron was great before you said so

LeBron was great before you said so

There is an absurd, antiquated notion going around that somehow LeBron James is now validated as an NBA great because he won a championship. That being the best player in the game was not enough, but that you have to have the best team too. Winning a championship at any level in a team game requires you to have the best team. It is one of the sports stigmas that I have been condemning for years. Winning is overrated. I know what I just said. Okay maybe just using “A winner” as an adjective... Read More →

Finally the championship has come back to Miami

Your Miami Heat are once again NBA Champions. With seemingly most of the media rooting against them, Miami dispatched the favored Oklahoma City Thunder in five games with a 121-106 victory Thursday night. The Thunder were supposed to be the deeper, more complete team. I call shenanigans on the top-heavy OKC. It seems the Thunder have two guys who can score the ball and a bunch of role players who cannot. The Heat meanwhile have three scorers and role players who can hit a jump shot. Oh and a swarming... Read More →

Local teams sweep Sunday sports

"You're the best"..."No YOU'RE THE BEST"..."No no I insist". It was going so well for South Florida on Sunday that even the Dolphins may have won if the NFL was in season. The Marlins, Heat, and Panthers all celebrated big wins to end the weekend. The beauty of DVR allowed me to be a full-fledged Florida sports slob and watch the games all day in full despite the fact that the Miami Marlins and Miami Heat aired at the same time. Here is a breakdown of our great... Read More →

Not our little team anymore

Not our little team anymore

No more Mermaids and orange seats?! While on the phone with the sales team of the Marlins discussing my season ticket purchase, I had to stop and think of how absurd the whole idea was. Having attendended hundreds of Florida Marlins games since 1993, it was never necessary to get season tickets at the cavernous stadium (60,000+ seating) built for football which had more name changes than sellouts. But now the newly named Miami Marlins also have a new $500 million dollar retractable roofed... Read More →

If you disagree, I would like to point out that just because you have a place where you know the bartender, or a manager there always hooks... Read More →

[Antisteez Sports] Dolphins Bully Bills, Win Again

The fact that I can start writing this as a positive story by halftime is a testament to this amazing confidence swing that these 2011 Miami Dolphins, and apparently us fans too, have enjoyed recently. Momentum is a hell of a drug. The Buffalo Bills came into Dolphins Stadium with a  5-4 record after starting 3-0, and reeling off of a 44-7 thrashing at the hands of the Dallas Cowboys. The Dolphins came in winners of two in a row, confident and defiant with their 2-7 record. The Bills started... Read More →

[Album Review] Jedi Mind Tricks: “Violence Begets Violence”

Jedi Mind Tricks are underground mainstays in the Hip-Hop world. The core of the group has always been rapper Vinnie Paz and producer Stoupe the Enemy of Mankind. Blood drinker Jus Allah, the third member, realigned with the group in 2007 after a six-year solo hiatus. This is the third J.M.T. album to have Vinnie and Jus trading verses, but now Stoupe’s amazing and intricate production has been replaced. For the hardcore/horror-core group’s seventh overall album Violence Begets Violence,... Read More →

Finally a win for the Lolphins

Finally a win for the Lolphins

After blown leads and questionable decisions plagued them during their 0-7 start, the winless, seemingly finless Miami Dolphins end the first half of their season with a 31-3 victory against the Kansas City Chiefs. It had almost become laughable, in a sort of pyschotic way, how our Dolphins had blown six leads this year in a kaleidoscope of fashions. I think Miami won because we ran out of ways to lose. I keed. In fact it was the opposite. The Fins corrected a few problems and opened up the... Read More →

[Album Review]: “The Day of the Storm” by K-Rino

To you K-Rino fans out there, I’ll admit it; I’m one of the people that first heard him on his three standout verses from the new Canibus album Lyrical Law. After more research, I found out dude has released 28 albums and has been rocking for over 20 years. The love this man gets on forums and online message boards is unparalleled, with throngs of people proclaiming him the best rapper in the world. K-Rino releases all of his music independently through Southparkcoalition and refuses... Read More →

Album Review: Wu-Tang: Legendary Weapons

Let us begin by stating this is the new Wu-Tang album, but it is not the new Wu-Tang Clan album. Six original members (No Gza or Masta Killa…ouch) are here to bring you Shaolin’s finest, with the music provided by Brooklyn soul band The Revelations. The rest of the lyrics are supplied by artists that have been ripping mics for years such as Sean Price, AZ, Cappadonna and M.O.P. This album is essentially a follow-up to 2009′s Wu-Tang Chamber Music, which followed the same format... Read More →

Old Sea Dog Trying To Help Floundering Marlins

When 80-year old Captain Jack McKeon took over managing duties for the Florida Marlins on June 21st, the fish were going through an awful 1-18 month. At one point earlier in the year, the Marlins were second in baseball with a 29-19 record and were the darlings of baseball analysts who praised the pitching staff and ability to win close games. The “June Swoon” is now over at the season’s halfway point and has left the marlins at 36-46, while costing the jobs of former manager... Read More →
