After Tsutchie, Nujabes was the second artist Shinichirō Watanabe chose to contribute to the background music and soundtracks of Samurai Champloo, an anime which blends a feudal Japan setting with modern anachronisms, especially in regards to hip hop culture. In addition to Japanese artists like Uyama Hiroto, Shing02 and Minmi, Nujabes has collaborated with underground American hip-hop acts CYNE, Cise Starr (as a solo apart from the hiphop collective CYNE), Apani B, Five Deez, Substantial, CL Smooth, Terry Callier, as well as British rapper Funky DL and R&B singer Dwele. He is also a member of the production duo Urbanforest, an experimental collaboration with Nao T.
On February 26th, 2010, Jun Seba was involved in a fatal car accident (the same day Japan experienced a 7.3 earthquake). He was 36 years old. His family had a private burial in Shimeyaka. Hydeout Productions has stated that although Nujabes has passed away, he left music behind to continue his legacy and will be released in the near future. http://e22.com/nujabes/
Murs has a lot of music in the vault. Although fans have been anticipating his latest project Fornever, a release with producer 9th Wonder, he says he has much more in store. Recently, the Mid City Los Angeles emcee announced that he would be releasing ten albums in ten months in 2010.
The theme may also lead to a box set that will be released in October.
“10 albums 10 songs each in 10 months in the year 2010. 10/10/10 box set will be available,” he announced on his Twitter page. “Or you can wait till 12/28 for the last piece.”
Believing that fans may take it as a joke, he has repeated himself more than once on the subject.
This can be as a result of his time spent after releasing his Warner Brothers debut, Murs for President. Since that album, Murs has been working on a variety of projects with various artists. In August of last year, Murs spoke to HipHopDX about all the music he is ready to release and promised the ten records to us back then.
“A lot of people keep asking about Murs and 9th Wonder. It never went away. We never stopped doing shit. We’re going to do shit forever. So, Murs and 9th Wonder coming [in 2010]… I got a punk rock group called The Invincibles with this gang called Whole Wheat Bread coming out this year. I’ve also been working on some stuff with DJ Quik and Terrace Martin. We’re doing a whole ghetto, hood, electro, dance, sex, party record. We’ve been working on that. We’ve got a few songs knocked out. I’ve also got Varsity Blues 2, man. So, I got like 4 records coming out. I’m going to have like 10 records in the next year, man. Stay tuned because as soon as I get free from Warner Brothers, it’s going to be a party.”
Now free, it seems he’s ready to get that party started.

I’m not a big fan of bands that scream throughout 80-100% of their songs, but I make a huge exception for metal/hardcore bands that have a advant grade feel to them. Call it mathcore, avant-garde metal, experimental metal, art metal, whatever. I love the fact that The Dillinger Escape Plan is just one of those amazing bands that feeds into this genre of music. For those of you that don’t know what avant-garde metal is, it’s a sub genre of metal that has large scale experimentations and the use of other instruments not common in the genre of metal and uncommon sounds and song structures.
The Dillinger Escape Plan is releasing their upcoming album, “Option Paralysis” on March 23rd. Below I’m posting a video to their single entitled “Farewell, Mona Lisa”
In the future expect more information on this band and their latest album. (This is the perfect workout music for me)
Here’s a teaser for the “Option Paralysis” album (Sorry this quality isn’t all that great):
ATTN: all you 80’s babies. That favorite vampire hunter we all love, that one young handsome kid that all ladies fell in love with in “License to Drive” and…. Well that dude that stared in 90% of the movies that came out in the 80’s, Corey Haim, just passed away a few moments ago.
TMZ reports it was possibly, an accidental overdose. I’m not exactly sure what an “acidental” overdose is, but let’s hope it was. Police were called into St. Joseph’s hospital in Burbank, CA, around 4am to investigate the death of the 38 year old movie star.
Is it your vision or the artist’s vision that moves you?
Whatever it is that tickles your senses, for the artist, what makes his or her art is that moment in time that gets transfered from their mind’s eye to permanence in your mind’s eye.
Just like that.
And for local artist AholSniffsGlue, that permanence starts with one thing…
7.625 FL OZ
Ahol Sniffs Glue is a 305-born staple. His influence can be felt on the party scene as one of the founding members of (((SHAKE))) at the Vagabond. (You can thank/curse the name Ahol if have ever felt the wrath of a Colt-45 hangover after a night of owning the dance floor at the popular Downtown Miami hotspot.) And his art has made it’s way onto the walls and into the consciousness of Miami. Known for his signature droopy-eyes and looking worse-for-wear characters, once you know his ’steez, you can spot Ahol’s work all over the place. His is a mass-invasion of your senses via stickers, entire walls off of I-95 and now, a bangin’ art exhibit at Wynwood’s Butter Gallery.
The show will feature some of Ahol’s new work, which promises to build on his signature style but will also include more-complex pieces. Ahol, who will be celebrating his 30th birthday that night, is promising to take it to the next level. But let me put your minds to rest, Miami natives who fear that by taking it to the next level, Mr. Sniffs Glue will go the way of the mainstream and lose touch with us 305′ers. Not so much. This ain’t your parents’ art exhibit! In accordance with keeping it classy and keeping it real, there will be chilled Colt-45s awaiting you at Butter, because what would a night with Ahol be if you could not get loose?
Peep Ahol below having a little chat with yours truly as he drops the info on his show and encourages you to support and help, “Manifest the ideas.”
And remember to come out, eyeball the art and celebrate one of the 305’s favorite sons this Thursday. And after you’re done soaking in the culture and drinking some malt-adult-beverages (Maybe even sniffing some glue if you got it.), head over to (((SHAKE))) at the Vagabond and work it out to the sounds of the one and only Tony Touch.
Here’s a little holiday love from your favorite thugs.

It’s about that time again, ladies and gentlemen. ART BASEL is amongst us and since Lou gets exclusive content on OHWOW that is what you guys are gonna read up on here. Check out the lineup for this years projects at The OHWOW Gallery.
The folks at Hip Hop Official caught up with ATL’s recently reunited Goodie Mob during a stop on the Cypress Hill Smoke Out tour. Cee-Lo, Khujo, T-Mo, and Big Gipp talk about their reunion, the state of hip-hop, and the beginnings of what will be their first album together in 10 years.
Slum Village emcee T3 recently spoke on their new album, Villa Manifesto, Baatin’s lyricism, and an unreleased project that features J Dilla beats.
“Manifesto, I think, sounds like a mixture of all our albums. I am definitely very picky about who we use. This time out, we used a lot of outside producers, but people that we’ve already had relationships with,” he told the Detroit Free Press. T3 subsequently stated artists in that inner circle include Hi-Tek , Black Milk , Pete Rock , Illa J, and Madlib, among others.
With Baatin’s recent passing during the process of creating their new album, T3 touched on the emcee’s penmanship. “[Baatin] had all this creative stuff building up for so long but didn’t have an outlet for it. He had this book, like a super group of verses; he was just stacking rhymes for a long time…I would tell him a concept that I wanted to do for this record and he’d just flip through his book and find a rhyme that would fit and then he’d ask how I liked it. It was crazy. Every time we would go in the studio he would cut two or three songs. I have a lot of Baatin lyrics.”
Grateful of the experience to reconnect with his close friend and rhyming partner, T3 added, “It was hard for me to keep it going after his passing, but at the same time I am happy I took the time out to record with him, you know?”
While their main focus is Villa Manifesto, T3 also mentioned the group will be releasing a full album with unheard J Dilla beats in the near future. “That’s a whole separate project we want to do, and that is probably one of the next projects we will do. But yes, that is in the works,” he stated.

Cause Mr. Candy is so good.
Fat people and funny go together like Oreo cookies and milk, kiddies.
I can’t explain it to you. I can’t offer up the rationale that makes it so, I just know what I know.
Maybe it’s their roundness. Maybe their extra pounds are really made up of jokes and quips. Or perhaps, when you are up there on the LBS., you just learn to make the best of your bigness and laugh with world…because it makes your belly jiggle and who doesn’t love that?
And sure, there have been comedic chubsters who have been big and made it to legendary status like Chris Farley…(Who is not going to be on this list, fyi.) But before all of the funny fatties, before all the huge ha-ha’sters there was one man, ONE MAN, who brought the large laughs so hard that he is, in my mind, one of the best of all time. If I could rose him from eternal slumber, I would, just so I could give him a hug. He is delicious. He is epic. He is #11 on our list…
