Eliot Kamenitz/The Times-Picayune Former Miami Hurricane, New York Giants, and New Orleans Saints tight end Jeremy Shockey wants to come back to the city he considers home, and the Miami Dolphins seem to have a mutual interest. Shockey passed a physical yesterday, and is reported to have also worked out for the team. When healthy, Shockey is a game breaker, and a game changer that would be a perfect compliment to Anthony Fasano‘s stout blocking and short to medium range receptions. He is often... Read More →
AP photo If you are surprised by the trade of Carmelo Anthony to the New York Knicks, then maybe you have better things to do than watch television or listen to the radio, because this has been more debated than the Van Halen – David Lee Roth split. Is he going to New York, or is he going to New Jersey? Back and forth for what seemed like forever, but it all came to an end, and he is a Knick. It took three teams and thirteen players to solidify his trip to the Big Apple, and that isn’t... Read More →
The weather has been a rollercoaster ride of highs and lows. Fittingly tomorrow Red Bull invades West Palm beach for create a snowboarding wonderland on the water. While that sounds straight out of a Dr. Seuss book it’s true. Snow will fall in Florida. And boarders will find reprieve in taking to the slopes. The faux ski lodge will come compliments of Red Bull who bring their Red Bull Butter Cup with mountains of snow for the Sunshine State, just for the day. Get your snowboarding tuchus to West... Brian Westerholt/Sports on Film Coaches like to talk about sacrifice, giving it all for your teammates, and winning and losing as a team. In baseball, more so than any other sport, an individual’s achievements can alter the outcome of an entire season. Whether it’s a twenty game winning pitcher, a forty homerun hitter, or a closer that never blows a save, one player can make or break your team, and your season. Which is why you see the inflated player salaries, and that me, myself, and... Read More →
First thing, I need to give myself a half a pat on the back for predicting (right hurr, you can also see how off I was with the rest of my predictions, lol), that the Green Bay Packers would win it all this season. I only get half a pat though because I had them beating the Indianapolis Colts. Instead they bested the Pittsburgh Steelers in what turned out to be a pretty good game. Although, if not for two huge drops by the Packers, this game could have been blown wide open by the third quarter. Nobody... Read More →
Dear Fellow Dolphins Fans, Marc Serota - Getty Images I know the play of the Miami Dolphins has been the subject of much frustration for at least a decade with only a couple of exceptions, and I share your frustration. However, there is a growing number of people out there that need to get some cheese to go with their whine. Seriously, on some days you guys can be more annoying than a Jets fan. “Waaahhhhh!… we shoulda got Jim Harbaugh“… “Waaahhhhh!… we shoulda... Read More →
Well, we are down to the final four in the NFL, and we are left with what should be two incredible matchups. The New York Jets and the Pittsburgh Steelers will battle for AFC supremacy, while the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears will slug it out for the NFC crown. At the beginning of the season, I had picked the Indianapolis Colts to play the Green Bay Packers in the Super Bowl, so at least I still have a shot to be half right. Whoever wins their respective conference, we are gonna be left with... Read More →
The young football program gets to keep its first legend. FIU wide receiver and return specialist T.Y. “Goodbye” Hilton decided to stay at Florida International University for his senior year to earn his degree in Sports Broadcasting, as well as improve his NFL Draft stock for 2012. Retaining the multi-threat star, who is known for his blazing speed and ability to score in multiple ways,  solidifies the eighth year program FIU as a favorite to repeat as Sun Belt Conference champions.... Jim Rogash/Getty Images I would call it a world tour, but that would not be correct. Just like calling someone “World Champions” when they only play on one continent is a little off as well, but enough waxing grammatical, or is it grammatically? Ah, whatever! We’re here to talk about the hottest team on the hardwood (I said hardwood, ::Butthead voice::), our loved and hated Miami Heat. You can take off your fallout suit, and just remove that panic button altogether, because the... Read More →
(JOE RIMKUS JR. / MIAMI HERALD STAFF) Well hello again to all my fellow ‘steezers and sports fans. I hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday season, and a fun and safe new year. I’ve been rewriting this post all week, because it seemed like everyday, there was something new coming out about the Miami Dolphins, and their current coaching situation. It’s been one of the strangest things I’ve ever seen in sports. What the Dolphins did to Tony Sparano was the equivalent of... Read More →
(AP, Getty Images) I have been out of town, and without my laptop for a few days, so I have missed a few days of writing. So what I’m going to do now is just take a quick glimpse around town, and see what’s going down, ya dig? It seems as though the last few years our teams have been stuck in “Averagetown”. Not quite good enough to make consistent playoff runs, but not quite bad enough to warrant the high draft picks that may deliver right away. The problem with this usually... Read More →
(nba.com) Let me start this off by saying, I think Cleveland fans are the best fans in any sports town. They have endured more heartbreak than any other city, and will still sell out all of their home games. Tonight is the first night Cleveland Cavaliers fans get to “cheer” for LeBron James one more time. There is even a list circulating about how to cheer for our beloved Miami Heat tonight. I would love to be a Cavs fan tonight, just to take part in this. I can even admit that this would... Read More →
