If you’re still aching for some graffiti culture post Art Basel then listen up. Your chance for a well rounded hip-hop jam comes in the form of True Elementz. Started by a local crew of graff artists the event, of the same name, has been on a yearlong hiatus and we’re glad to have it back. If your name isn’t Rebecca and you didn’t win the Graff Toyz: Graff Erase Board then you’ve resorted to “graffing” in the margin of your notes at school, work or maybe on the placemat at Versailles possibly around 2:30am. Not to fret True Elementz offers the creative release you’ve been searching for.
The event is described as “a unity celebration of all the elements.” Not only will there be a graffiti battle with winnings of $1,000… but there will also be a 2-on-2 bboy battle for another $1,000. To register for the bboy battle visit the Ground Zero Crew website (there’s a $10 registration fee per team) and to register for the graffiti battle visit the True Elementz page.
No hiphop culture show would be complete without DJs and emcees. Some of Miami’s finest will be rocking the stage for your entertainment:
Be there or regret it. Be on the lookout for breakout battles in the parking lot and car-side cyphers. Always the best part of jams like this.
