On February 26th, 2010, Jun Seba was involved in a fatal car accident (the same day Japan experienced a 7.3 earthquake). He was 36 years old. His family had a private burial in Shimeyaka. Afrobeta may not exist had it not been for their random rendezvous at a Suenalo concert. (Suenalo being a local music post all its own…) The songwriting, beat making and soul shattering have been continuous ever since. And thank goodness for that!

Blu -- Amnesia: He doesn’t make an actual appearance, but he did confirm, via Twitter, that this is an official clip for the song. This song is from his most recent hixtape “HerFavoriteColo(u)r”.

Elzhi -- Deep: Coming at you strong as FUCK with the lyrics that most rappers only dream about writing, Elzhi drops a new video for the song Deep, produced by Black Milk, that is featured in his newest mixtape The Leftovers.

Murs has a lot of music in the vault. Although fans have been anticipating his latest project Fornever, a release with producer 9th Wonder, he says he has much more in store. Recently, the Mid City Los Angeles emcee announced that he would be releasing ten albums in ten months in 2010.

The theme may also lead to a box set that will be released in October.

“10 albums 10 songs each in 10 months in the year 2010. 10/10/10 box set will be available,” he announced on his Twitter page. “Or you can wait till 12/28 for the last piece.”

Believing that fans may take it as a joke, he has repeated himself more than once on the subject.

This can be as a result of his time spent after releasing his Warner Brothers debut, Murs for President. Since that album, Murs has been working on a variety of projects with various artists. In August of last year, Murs spoke to HipHopDX about all the music he is ready to release and promised the ten records to us back then.

“A lot of people keep asking about Murs and 9th Wonder. It never went away. We never stopped doing shit. We’re going to do shit forever. So, Murs and 9th Wonder coming [in 2010]… I got a punk rock group called The Invincibles with this gang called Whole Wheat Bread coming out this year. I’ve also been working on some stuff with DJ Quik and Terrace Martin. We’re doing a whole ghetto, hood, electro, dance, sex, party record. We’ve been working on that. We’ve got a few songs knocked out. I’ve also got Varsity Blues 2, man. So, I got like 4 records coming out. I’m going to have like 10 records in the next year, man. Stay tuned because as soon as I get free from Warner Brothers, it’s going to be a party.”

Now free, it seems he’s ready to get that party started.

So apparently this is not the first time J. Rocc makes a mixtape for Supreme. The Stones Throw resident DJ, which has been in the scene for over 10 years and has been the official DJ for Dilla and works with Madlib, made this funky mixtape, just so Supreme LA customers can grab and listen to.

    Art of Can is being held in a not-to-be-missed glass structure on SoBe along Ocean and 9^th St. If you’re reading this and it’s between 12pm-11pm on Sunday, March 14^th then what are you waiting for? Take a gander at all the intricate work that goes into converting Red Bull cans, including Sugar-free and Cola versions, into impressive masterpieces.

    For all of you artists out there get those creative juices flowing for your submission to the next exhibit being held in Dallas on July 30^th. But get a move on; you have until May 10^th to submit your entry. Keep in mind you may need a lot of “practice cans”. Or your creative genius may be bigger than life and plotting a show-stopper requiring a plethora of cans. This may warrant a drink-a-thon with friends. Another option could be setting up a table at your local university urging students to stay alert for exams. You provide the energy boost aka Red Bull and they return the can. Look at that you’re a philanthropist, artist and going green all at once!
