Whole Foods Market, the natural and organic foods supermarket, launched a film series this month- “Let’s Retake Our Plates”. This nationwide effort set out to raise awareness and inspire action in hopes of remedying the problems facing our food system. The films should encourage people to take charge of their food choices. You are what you eat! What you choose to eat can greatly impact your health and the environment.
As a part of their Earth Month celebration Whole Foods will screen 15 films with more than 150 screenings across the country ranging from Academy Award nominees to independent documentary projects throughout April. Screenings will be hosted in movie theaters, libraries, schools and other venues. Admission will range from free to $20 per family, with proceeds benefitting non profits like food banks and organizations devoted to sustainable lifestyles. Some of the screenings will be followed by Q&A sessions so be sure to find one near you and get educated on your eats!
