The incredibly talented John Legend and The Legendary Roots Crew have gotten together once again to make sweet, sweet music and will be releasing a cover album of political, social and war-protest songs entitled “Wake Up!”. The highly anticipated cover album is set to drop on September 21st. The album will consist of  a 1960′s-70′s soul sound. The cover songs will speak on topics of awareness and consciousness telling all those that listen to WAKE UP! There will be one original composition on the album called “Shine”.

Both The Roots and John Legend have already established themselves as prominent musical artists. They’ve shown how well they mesh together on previous projects and past performances. It will be exciting to hear them as a collective and bring new life to songs of yesteryear. Given the times we are living in, it will be great to see music ignite the soul of a nation and maybe spark the revolution once again.
