Soarse Spoken has been working on his latest album, Rawcenticity, for quite some time. He took a four year hiatus from music making getting caught up in responsibility, like most of us have been known to do. But you can’t keep the creative process at bay… the need to make music trumped everything else. To reintroduce his sound to the scene he’s releasing, Starve the Hunger, on October 16th.
The mixtape is appropriately titled as Soarse Spoken has been starving his hunger for music, which will show on the tracks. With production by DJ Sharpsound, mixing by Omniscient and mastering by Miami Beat Wave the mixtape won’t be the usual compilation of songs. Starve the Hunger has more of a cohesive sound with a clear direction.
Collaborations and features will vary from local Miami talent to a couple of names known industry wide. Expect tracks from Stone Throw’s Homeboy Sandman on the title track, JNICS on “Coming From” where the pair go over their hometowns and even Miami’s latest success story ¡MAYDAY! whose front-men Bernz and Wrekonize lend themselves to the melodic “Thieves In The Room”. Also look out for tracks with DaVincci, Shottie, Seven Star, Punch3nello, Akin Yai and a few surprise guests and remixes not to mention an intro by Philly DJ and raptress Jasmine Solano.
Have we given away too much? There’s plenty to tell about this project being that Soarse Spoken’s journey to this mixtape was a long one. After fighting lack of support, funding and time he got the opportunity to focus on music 100% via a sponsor. Soarse Spoken can now release his music independently through Minus Hiatus, his newly found record label with another appropriate name… an opportunity to make moves without a hiatus; just progress.
Along with the job, girl and parties he left behind Soarse is focusing on making music and live performances; he just recently opened for the LikNUTS… a coming together of Tha Alkaholiks and The Beatnuts at Blackbird Ordinary.
Get a taste of Starve the Hunger before it’s released on October 16th in New York at he CMJ festival with this exclusive leak from the mixtape. Take a listen and let us know what you think in the comments.
While we caught up with Soarse about his upcoming projects we took a stroll through Miami’s Design District and took the opportunity to take a couple of pictures. The many sides of Soarse Spoken. Get to know them. You’ll be glad you did.
