If you’ve been living under a rock for while now, you probably haven’t heard of Them Crooked Vultures. So who and what is Them Crooked Vultures. Well besides the raunchy name of a band, it’s not just any band, it’s a SUPER BAND. The members of Them Crooked Vultures are Josh Hommes (Queens Of The Stone Age, Kyuss, Eagles Of Death Metal) on vocals and guitar, Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters/Nirvana) on drums, and John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin) on bass. I should have your attention now. The names of the members in this band is what’s been selling the band itself. They have been touring and playing multiple shows (which mind you have all been sold out once announced) without the release of an album and they’ve made it possible just by the line up’s name. I’ve been following the entire history ever since a friend of mine mentioned the rumor. It’s been a several months now of anticipation and they have finally announced the release date and the time of arrival is November 17, 2009 in the United States. Right now iTunes has some pre-order specials going on now as well.
What to expect from Them Crooked Vultures? I don’t know how to describe the music other than using the example of the members’ prior projects. Let’s just say it’s mostly a Queens Of The Stone Age sound with Dave Grohl’s eccentric drumming and a huge bluesy influence from John Paul Jones while adding some of his hard rock and Led Zeppelin touch in there. It’s a major modern sound though and the entire album is a massive jam with a hell of an attitude. This is just one of those albums that you will hear from beginning to end. I definitely recommend everyone that’s a fan of either band (Queens of The Stone Age, Foo Fighters, Led Zeppelin) to pick this one up. I can ramble in excitement about this all day. Queens and Foo Fighters are two of my favorite bands to this date. As much as people love to download music because it’s free and easily accessible, I’m actually going to go out there and buy the physical product.
Anyways, now that you know the minor detail, it’s time to hear what they have created together in this amazing musical all star group. To listen to the entire full album on stream, click here. This is going to be a YouTube playlist so make sure you go down the playlist to hear the entire album.
