Sunday wraps up the exhibit Art of Can presented by Red Bull. Artists were challenged with the unique single parameter of using Red Bull cans for their submissions to the collection. Forty-seven original pieces have been on display this month from nationwide artists, both professional and amateur. During the kick-off gala a panel of judges chose three winners for the Miami Beach exhibition. First place was awarded to a Floridian! Noah Deledda from Tampa will be going, all expenses paid, to... ArtOfficial – The Payback (ft. K. Sparks)
Very glad to see these cats getting the recognition they deserve. I actually wrote about them, back in October, as one of my first Learn Ya posts. This new year seems to be going GREAT for them. This time you get a leak off of their upcoming album The Payback (which might I add is a free download and will be available on their site), featuring K. Sparks, which I have also written about on a Learn Ya Wednesday post. Hope nothing but good for ArtOfficial. Damn sure know they don’t stop working... (more...)
The Dillinger Escape Plan’s New Single: “Farewell, Mona Lisa”
I’m not a big fan of bands that scream throughout 80-100% of their songs, but I make a huge exception for metal/hardcore bands that have a advant grade feel to them. Call it mathcore, avant-garde metal, experimental metal, art metal, whatever. I love the fact that The Dillinger Escape Plan is just one of those amazing bands that feeds into this genre of music. For those of you that don’t know what avant-garde metal is, it’s a sub genre of metal that has large scale experimentations... (more...)
Trip-Hop Thursdays: Morcheeba
Morcheeba is an amazing trip hop group that combines trip with a more R&B and hip-hop approach. Listening to Morcheeba gives you a great atmospheric listening and mood between the great arrangement in production, sensual feel, and Skye’s hypnotic vocals. Founders DJ Godfrey and Ross Godfrey met sometime in the 1990s and recruited Skye Edwards as their vocalist, during a chance meeting at a party in which both brothers were introduced to Skye. Together they made a good discography and... (more...)

Jay-Z and J.Cole Sharing a Stage.
While in Greensboro, NC, for the BP3 Tour, Jay brought out one of his new gunners up to bat. J. Cole came out to help him perform “Star is Born”, which was also the first time J. Cole ever hits up an actual selling album. You can tell just by looking at this video, how much fun he is having on ROC Nation. Read More →
Movies You’ll Never See
In five venues across Miami a festival of films will come and go without notice. The Miami International Film Festival is screening 115 films until Sunday, March 14th. That means there’s still time for you to step out of the land of the unknowing! I’ve yet to meet a person who knows about MIFF or who’s been enthused enough to see a film. Here’s what you’re missing out on… 45 countries are represented in the film collection with many of them premieres and highly acclaimed. You may even... (more...)
R.I.P. Corey Haim
ATTN: all you 80’s babies. That favorite vampire hunter we all love, that one young handsome kid that all ladies fell in love with in “License to Drive” and…. Well that dude that stared in 90% of the movies that came out in the 80’s, Corey Haim, just passed away a few moments ago. TMZ reports it was possibly, an accidental overdose. I’m not exactly sure what an “acidental” overdose is, but let’s hope it was. Police were called into St. Joseph’s... (more...)
7.625 FL OZ by Ahol Sniffs Glue
What makes art, art? Is it the subject or the finished result? Is it the use of color or the medium? Is it your vision or the artist’s vision that moves you? Whatever it is that tickles your senses, for the artist, what makes his or her art is that moment in time that gets transfered from their mind’s eye to permanence in your mind’s eye. Just like that. And for local artist AholSniffsGlue, that permanence starts with one thing… 7.625 FL OZ Ahol Sniffs Glue is a 305-born... (more...)
Little Brother – Curtain Call (prod by Khrysis)
As most of you know, Little Brother is working on their last studio album together. Phonte has The Foreign Exchange and Pooh has his solo career he’s trying to attend to. Also, 9th Wonder has NOTHING to do with this album, which makes me a bit sad. Well, if the whole album is anything like this one song, then they are SURE to have a great album to say ‘goodbye’ with. Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version... (more...)
The Weekly Pod… Wait, what?
Today, ladies and gentlemen… Today is a special day. Not necessarily a happy one, but definitely a special one. Today, 13 years ago, one of the MC’s that re-defined hiphop left us. Christopher Wallace AKA The Notorious BIG, AKA Biggie, AKA The black Frank White. Yeah, I know. It’s been 13 years already? Well, today instead of recording a podcast and throwing in a ton of different Biggie songs, I decided to let you guys download this gem I found a few years back. Mick Boogie and... (more...)
