Santana’s Upcoming Album Has New Details

Santana has a brand new album coming out on September 21, 2010. The album is called “Guitar Heaven: Santana Performs the Greatest Guitar Classics of All Time” and it has a shit load of guest singers from various vocalists from a lot of today’s modern rock bands. It was very recent that Carlos Santana propsed on stage to his drummer Cindy Blackman during a show in Tinley, Illinois right after she performed her drum solo. After many years of magical music performances. compositions... Read More →

Apollo Brown

Off his latest musical brainchild, The Reset, Apollo Brown delivers yet another triumph in sonic production. “Balance,” narrated by emcees Kenn Starr and John Robinson, is an otherworldly musical composition. The beat cooks low and slow with an orchestral bass line and swirls with synthesized harmonics that elevate the track to a unique frequency. “I really wanted this song to take the listener somewhere when they hear it,” notes Brown. “Some people call it a dreamscape sound. It’s just thought provoking life music to me.” The sixteen bar verses dropped by Starr and Robinson are well chiseled models of deft lyricism; however, the prime cut from this beast is Brown’s beat construction that effortlessly throws listeners off balance in this ironically titled track. “Balance” is up for grabs on Apollo Brown’s album, The Reset.

And why not throw in some live performances to get the edge off? Tomorrow LEXUS presents The Darker Side of Green where author and renewable energy advocate, Amanda Little will square off against author and climate policy skeptic, Chris Horner in a debate of green issues while Jamie... Read More →

A good birthday party includes friends, music, food and couple of adult beverages. Now, when Miami turns 114 next week a “good” birthday party will simply not do. The City of Miami and DowntownMiami.com thought that something bigger and badder should be orchestrated for the birthday of our grand city. "Miami 114" by Stephen Gamson What’s sure to become a yearly event will take place in the heart of the city, Downtown Miami, at the American Airlines Arena. In honor of Miami’s 114th... Read More →

Ketchy Shuby: The New Sound IS Downtown Soul

You take reggae, soul, blues, afrobeat, jazz, some latin undertones, some psychedelic sounds, a lot of love and mix it up and you get Ketchy Shuby, a 305-based band that is doing big things on the music scene. These Miami boys have created their own genre of music called, “Downtown Soul,” which, according to them, is, “Music for our City.” (I don’t now about you, but to us 305 natives, that sounds pretty good, eh?) If you don’t know them or have never heard of... Read More →

Barbu: Eat, Drink and Help Haiti

Sundays are for lounging and, if you did it right, recovering from Saturday night’s mayhem and Tomfoolery. Well, now you can spend your Sunday evening in recovery at Barbu, and while you are at it, help to raise funds for Haiti. (And by the way, I said Sunday EVENING because we all know you probably wake up at 2 p.m. on Sundays, anyway.) It’s been six months since Haiti was struck by a 7.0 earthquake that devastated the capital city, Port-au-Prince and in case you are wondering, yes,... Read More →

Sports in the 305 shall thrive!

Miami sports fans knew coming into this NBA free agency summer of 2010 that the Heat would be major spenders. We knew there were three superstars available, as well as a bunch of good players. What we did not know is that Pat Riley would flex his pimp muscles enough to dominate negotiations and win us free agent A, free agent B, and free agency (let it sink in…embrace my puns), or if you prefer it spun (Spanish punned), I’ll give you…free agent-Si’! The great Heat heist... Read More →
