Illustration by: Erin Fitzpatrick www.fitzbomb.com Visual media is a powerful thing. The ability to communicate to the masses in the sparsity of a few-seconds’ glance or in the expanse of hours-long, rapt attention, takes some serious mojo. It’s a power that can move us to laugh, to think, to weep, to reminisce and to conjure up a firm... (more...)

Pro Producers: The Rick Rubin Saga

Posted by Damian C. On December - 3 - 2009ADD COMMENTS

It’s been way past due since the last time I went and said I was going to write up Rick Rubin’s background. My apologies to everyone that was looking forward to it, life can be pretty messy and I take my time to clean it up. So today marks the day that I will be doing the Rick Rubin background. The last Rick Rubin post pretty much layed down the foundation of his legacy and achievements, but to know the story of how it all began and how he got to his current state is a whole other story.... (more...)

Representin' BKDuck Down Records’ newest member, Skyzoo, has been on a mission since he was age 9. First thing I will mention is, YES, just like you, I always wondered where he came up with that name. It took me a while to find it, but back in 1980, an R&B/Funk/Disco group named Skyy, had a single named Skyyzoo. His parents, being the music lovers they are, gave Gregory Taylor the middle name Skyler, and the nickname Skyzoo. That just goes to show you, this kid has been into good music... (more...)

Alukard: On the move. On the rise. On their way…

Posted by Goobs On November - 24 - 20096 COMMENTS

I am mesmerized and listening to what I can only call an “intense” conversation full of adamant testimony from drummer, Zaigone, towards my partner, Lou. You see, the lines are being drawn. Lou, a player of W.O.W. (That’s World of Warcraft for all you non-believers.) is being called out by Zaigone, whose... (more...)
