Today once you’ve blazed one for Guru head out the door to The Vagabond for a special advanced screening of the film sweeping national and international film festivals- “When You’re Strange”. The film, directed by Tom DiCillo, documents The Doors making The Vagabond an appropriately named venue for the screening! Even better it’s narrated by Johnny Depp, who’s thrilled by the project saying “I am as proud of this as anything I have ever done.â€Â
While Jim Morrison’s abrupt death in ‘71 may have also meant the death of The Doors the fan base and artistic appreciation are still quite alive. The documentary follows the band through their climb to fame using historic and previously unseen footage. “When You’re Strange†delves into band dynamic from their personal attitudes to their philosophy. Take an intimate trip down memory lane along with drummer John Densmore, guitarist Robby Krieger, keyboardist Ray Manzarek and singer Jim Morrison.
After the screening enjoy a special edition of The Vagabond’s Tuesday party, Stone Groove, with music and poetry inspired by Jim Morrison and The Doors.
